What really drew me to William O’Neil + Co. is twofold. First, the O’Neil Methodology looks to answer a key question that I believe even the best traditional sell side analysts often overlook – “when?” Equally important to finding a good quality company to invest in, is deciphering when to take a position and, just as important, when not to take a position. This can be the difference between making an outstanding and lucrative investment and a very poor one.

Secondly, the discipline that comes from adherence to the method brings an intellectual honesty and lack of any bias to the recommendations is what I found truly refreshing. Following the data with no axe to grind leads to conclusions that can be relied upon with confidence.

With more than 20 years in the industry, on both sides of the pond, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some truly fantastic research analysts, salespeople, traders, economists, et al. I’ve also been fortunate to service many different types of funds on the buy side with unique and differentiated investment styles, ranging from hyper focused tech hedge funds to the more traditional long-only positions.

I’ve worked to glean best practices from these professionals and also learned to approach each relationship independently. Bringing a pre-determined approach rarely leads to a desired outcome or meaningful connection. Listening, first and foremost, leads to understanding the individual needs and goals of each client – and only then can you deliver concise and worthwhile advice.

My goal is to continue to learn about the incredibly poignant intersection of fundamental and technical aspects of investment research that the O’Neil Methodology brings. More importantly, I’d like to help clients, both old and new, to better understand this incredibly useful tool, ultimately leading to increased success with their investment objectives.

Having spent the bulk of my adult life in major cities, my wife and two young boys now happily reside in a small seaside town in Massachusetts. Away from the office, I’m happiest with my glove on – coaching the lads on a little league field or taking in the salty sea air riding waves on the beach with the family.
