U.S. Dollar Index at a Multi-Year High
• The U.S. dollar index rose to a multi-year high in September 2022 as the yield spread between the U.S. and other key
economies widened amid rising interest rates and concerns of a global economic slowdown.
• The rising dollar index, in turn, makes the imports cheaper, thus offsetting domestic inflation in the U.S. However, it
adversely impacts the companies and sectors with revenue emerging from outside the U.S. Likewise, the strong dollar
positively impacts international companies that have a higher proportion of the USD revenue.
