“Mainland Chinese markets remain Under Pressure, both below
their 50-day moving averages, despite finishing the first week of
2017 on a good note. The Shenzhen rose 0.9%, while the Shanghai
gained 1.6%, on volume that has yet to pick-up. We expect both to
consolidate in the near term as markets head into the Chinese New
Year holiday later this month.
